Reception Keys

1. Read the server (anticipate)

2. Feet to ball

3. Arms react and form angle to deflect ball to the setter, platform facing the server/ball while dropping shoulder closest to target


Spike Serve Keys

1. High toss, 4 steps in front of hitting shoulder

2. Step, then toss

3. Torque (rotate hips and shoulders for power)

4. Maximize momentum (slow to fast)

Spiking Keys

1. 4-step approach (right, left, right, left for righties)

2. Small, to big.  Slow to fast

3. Outside in approach

4. Double arm lift. Arms hanging straight down on first two steps and swing straight back in parallel motion on third step.

4. Torque (rotate hips and shoulders for power)

5. Swing fast for power

Blocking Keys

1. Eye Work (ball, hitter, setter, ball, hitter)

2. Max Jump (slow to fast approach)

3. Gather elbows in front of body before penetrating in order to seasl the net.

4. Be smart (have a good idea where the ball is most likely to go bere the ball is set. Take one step in that direction and be leaning that way.  React to everything else.



Setting (7 videos)

Setting Keys

1. Start facing the passer/ball, end facing where you want the ball to go (squaring up)

2. Hands up early, hands should be molded in the shape of a volleyball and above forehead.

3. Follow through with varied angles to achieve diferent tempo sets (high follow through for high set, forward follow through for fast set)

4. Speed of set- Use fast setting motion to set the ball farther and a slower setting motion for closer sets

Defensive Keys

1. Anticipate

2. Low posture with shoulder in front of toes, leaning forward read to dive for short balls

3. Be stopped when ball is hit

4. Shuffle feet to ball and try to dig ball midline

5. Attitude "Nothing Drops!"


Offense Keys

1. Try to create one-on-one situations with blockers

2. Communication (setter and hitters communicating location and tempo of set before play).

3. Set against the flow (long distance, away from the middle)

4. Or overload blockers (2nd tempo, over the middle)

5. Set into the players hitting window (e.g. on bad pass set pipe instead of running quick)
